A product that cannot describe itself in events cannot be steered by a model later. This cut is about the taxonomy we locked before the dashboards got pretty.

Field notes

01

Name the verb, not the screen

Screen_viewed dies when the UI moves. Merchant.payout.released still means something in two years. We treated event names as public API, with the same change control as a breaking schema.

02

Volume is a design constraint

At 10M merchants, a chatty client event is a bill. We dropped 'interesting' events that nobody had a decision attached to. If it does not change a Tuesday, it is not instrumentation.

03

Models inherit your mess

Every later LLM feature — a copilot, a weekly digest — will speak this vocabulary. If the vocabulary is screens, the model will narrate screens. If it is business verbs, it can narrate the business.
